It is time to create time blocks and review how these can help you schedule your day in a way that supports sustainable self-care.
You have learned about poverty mind, and how diet culture can amplify the feelings of not having or being enough. You also learned more about weight and diabetes stigma. In section 2, you learned about time blocks and how these chunks have a transition on each end. You must play with your calendar to identify when your time blocks start and stop. In section 3, you explored the four times of time and learned why it is easy to get overscheduled and fall victim to binge thinking, which can lead to binge eating. In this section, you will see examples of the different types of time. In section four, you planned your perfect day, which is a day when you feel a deep sense of balance. In this final section, you will put your learning together. We will create time blocks and review how these can help you schedule your day in a way that supports sustainable self-care.
Step 1: Having Five Blocks
The first step is identifying your five blocks of time. The purpose of Time Blocks is to help you break down your day into smaller chunks. This is the first of many sorting activities that you have learned about to create a sense of balance. While it may not seem like it, your ability to sort is a superpower.
The initial thing to do is to break your day into five blocks to help you visualize chunks of time. In section three, we outlined five blocks, which are as follows:
Block One: Waking up
Block Two: Morning to Noon
Block Three: Noon to Evening
Block Four: Evening to Night
Block Five: Night to Bed
The next step is to look for natural transitions to decide when your time blocks start and stop. Creating clear and intentional transitions feels like permission—permission to stop, rest, and pause if necessary for sustainable self-care. For many people, meals are the most common transitional activity. If meals don't work for you, refer to section 3 to see other common transitional activities.
