Macronutrients

Macronutrients are where calories are from. They provide energy. There are four macronutrients.

  • Carbohydrates

  • Fat

  • Protein

  • Alcohol

When your macronutrients are not balanced, you can feel tired. This means you might feel tired if you are eating more of one macronutrient or not enough of another.

  • Fatigue can happen between meals - you run out of energy because you eat less than your body needs.

  • Fatigue can happen after eating. For example, eating makes you sleepy because you eat more than your body needs. This is especially true if you have prediabetes or diabetes.
