Everyone is talking about "Macros' but what are they and why are they important for overall blood sugar and diabetes care. This second installment of Nutrition 101 explains the what, why, and how!
Macronutrients
Macronutrients are where calories are from. They provide energy. There are four macronutrients.
Carbohydrates
Fat
Protein
Alcohol
When your macronutrients are not balanced, you can feel tired. This means you might feel tired if you are eating more of one macronutrient or not enough of another.
Fatigue can happen between meals - you run out of energy because you eat less than your body needs.
Fatigue can happen after eating. For example, eating makes you sleepy because you eat more than your body needs. This is especially true if you have prediabetes or diabetes.
